The safety tunnel along the existing Giessbach tunnel has a length of approx. 3'300m and a drilling diameter of 5.2m. The rock heading is carried out mostly declining with a open TBM, starting from the west portal in the direction of east (Interlaken - Brienz). In total, 10 new emergency exits are built, which connects the road tunnel with accessible cross connections to the safety tunnel.
Rowa delivers a back-up installations to build the safety tunnel Giessbach.
The back-up wagons and rolling platforms consists of all needed routs, working places, transloading equipment and components to remove and dispose muck material by means of conveyors and the supply of the TBM and installation places with lining segments, mortar, pre-assembly rails ring beams and other installation materials.
